Edit Viljamaa (she/they b.2000) is a Helsinki-based sound designer, theatre maker, photographer and musician who is currently studying at the University of the Arts Theatre Academy in the third year of the sound design programme. Her work combines different art forms and multisensoriality. Edit experiences sound as a strong spatial element and finds spatially oriented working important and inspiring. Edit is currently particularly interested in the therapeutic effects of sound and the human voice in general. She often uses the human voice in her work and enjoys exploring its different dimensions. Edit has been doing photography for 7 years now and just filmed her first music video as well.
Edit's goal in art is to create experiences that take the experiencer deep into the world of the artwork and into their own mind, raising questions, emotions and insights. Edit believes that the most important values in the working group are openness, creativity, equality, kindness and unity. Edit is used to work both in Finnish or in English and dreams of working all around the world in different environments and projects.
